Farah is a climate inequality expert with over a decade of experience working at the intersection of climate finance, social inclusion, and feminist political economy. Her work focuses on how climate finance systems distribute risks and opportunities and can be reshaped to deliver more equitable outcomes.
Farah is a Social Development Specialist at the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), a leading multilateral climate finance mechanism managing over $12 billion. In this role, she drives the integration of social inclusion across climate investment frameworks, working with governments and development partners to strengthen how equity is reflected in the design, financing, and implementation of climate programs. She co-leads the $11 million Women-Led Coal Transition (WOLCOT) Initiative, which supports just transitions in coal-dependent regions and has contributed to analytical work on women’s climate leadership and gender-smart climate finance.
Prior to CIF, Farah spent four years with UN Women in Algeria, where she led the implementation of a $1.5 million gender equality program and delivered lasting institutional reform across government, law enforcement, and media. She secured strategic partnerships with five government ministries, resulting in the adoption of concrete sectoral gender roadmaps, and negotiated a landmark collaboration with the national police that resulted in a gender-based violence response training module being institutionalised as mandatory curriculum across police academies nationwide. She also established Algeria’s first network of media gender champions, contributing to shifts in how gender equality is represented in public discourse.
Farah later worked with the World Bank, USAID and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), where she deepened her focus on climate and energy transition. In these roles, she designed socio-economic assessments for renewable energy programs across multiple countries and led climate and gender analyses in diverse contexts, translating equity principles into large-scale development operations. Farah is a speaker on socially responsive climate action in global forums. She holds a Master of Science in Political Sciences from the London School of Economics and a Master of Public Administration from Sciences Po Lille.
