AFSEE Incubation Labs

Launched at the AFSEE Leadership Summit in January 2023, the AFSEE Incubation Labs is a new initiative built around a two-stage process and designed to foster and support impactful and innovative cross-cohort collaborative projects that are started, led, and implemented by AFSEE Senior Fellows.

Stage 1:

As part of Stage 1, thirteen incubation labs were set up in February 2023. Each incubation lab was established with a minimum of four AFSEE Senior Fellows participating from across at least two different cohorts.

Stage 1 involved Incubation Labs having a series of ideas generating meetings before hosting either a roundtable discussion or a virtual networking event. These events could have been for a public or internal audience. All incubation labs were eligible to apply for funding of up to £500 to aid their efforts in Stage 1 and were required to submit a narrative report after completing their events.

Stage 2:

Nine incubation labs proceeded to Stage 2 by completing an application implementing their learnings from Stage 1 and also demonstrating their rationale for proceeding under either Pathway 1: The Network Catalysts or Pathway 2: Developing an External Funding Proposal. All incubation labs participating in Stage 2 were eligible to apply for funding for up to £10,000. Between October 2023 and September 2024, the incubation labs will host events, either in-person or online.
