Giorgi is a political scientist, journalist, and educator whose work is deeply rooted in the struggle for social justice and the empowerment of labour movements in Georgia.
He is the co-founder and reporter at Mautskebeli, an independent media outlet dedicated to amplifying the voices of the oppressed and excluded. The platform plays a crucial role in supporting workers’ strikes, grassroots movements, resisting forced evictions, and defending the right to housing — all while confronting dominant narratives that marginalise working-class communities.
In a time of democratic backsliding and rising authoritarianism in Georgia, Mautskebeli has become a vital source of information and solidarity. It is especially trusted by labour collectives across the country, often serving as their primary outlet for communication, organizing, and political expression.
Through storytelling, reporting, and education, his work continues to challenge structural injustice while fostering hope for a more equitable world.
His commitment to social change began during his student years, when he took part in the Auditorium 115 movement — a grassroots mobilisation that began as a protest for educational access and social equality and quickly grew into a nationwide demand for democratic reform.
After graduating, Giorgi worked at the Adjara Public Broadcaster as a researcher and anchor of a TV show. His productions focused on labour exploitation, inequality, and democratic participation. At the same time, he became certified as a civic education teacher and has been teaching in public schools for three years.
In my country, as in many others, a small elite has legalised the robbery of the working majority. At the same time, they are stripping away the last remnants of democracy we had managed to win. The only true answer to this is international resistance and solidarity.Giorgi Arobelidze
