Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity

After the Active Fellowship Year: 2022-23 Cohort starts their Senior Fellowship journeys

Mar 27, 2024

All members of the 2022-23 Cohort of the Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity programme have successfully completed their active fellowship year and have now joined the Atlantic Fellows community, where they will be able to engage and collaborate with Senior Fellows from all the seven Atlantic Fellowships around the world.

The active fellowship year was a period of co-learning and encountering challenging questions about equality and justice. Being in AFSEE’s inclusive and stimulating space was a unique opportunity for me to develop my knowledge and research skills, share my ideas, and learn from Fellows, AFSEE team, and scholars at LSE.

Hamidreza Vasheghanifarahani, 2022-23 Cohort Fellow

The 16 Fellows, who joined the programme based at LSE International Inequalities Institute in September 2022, hail from Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. During their active fellowship year, all Fellows attended four Fellowship Modules (three in-person and one online) focusing on Foundations of Social & Economic Inequalities, Policy for Equity, Challenging & Transforming Inequality, and Migration & Displacement.

In the 2022-23 Cohort are nine Residential Fellows, whose London-based active fellowship year saw them complete the MSc in Inequalities and Social Science at LSE, and seven Non-Residential Fellows who got funded to execute fellowship projects aimed at offering a new insight, challenge, or solution to inequalities.

AFSEE Fellowship is a lifelong journey. After completing the active fellowship year, the 2022-23 Cohort will start their AFSEE Senior Fellowship journeys, where they have access to a variety of funding, initiatives, and collaborative projects to support their professional development, learning, and knowledge exchange, and expand their networks.

I heartily congratulate the 2022-23 Fellows for graduating and joining the global community of Senior Fellows. It has been wonderful working with and getting to know this cohort and seeing how they have come together as a tight knit group. I’ve been impressed with how their projects and ideas have developed over time. They are an incredible group of people, and we at the AFSEE programme look forward to continuing to work with them and developing new collaborations in the future.
